Palworld 1.0 turns Work Suitability into an upgrade plan rather than a single number on the Paldeck. Treat it as four separate layers: the Pal's natural work level, condensation rank-ups, a permanent Applied Handbook, and one base aura carrier. Each layer answers a different problem, and the fastest upgrade is usually the one aimed at the job currently holding up your base.
Start by checking the natural leader for the job. Condense a favourite when you are willing to accept that an intermediate rank may improve a different one of its jobs. Use a matching handbook when one specific suitability needs a guaranteed permanent +1. Add an aura carrier when several workers at the same base need the same +1.
The overhaul in three numbers
Use the upgrade that matches the bottleneck
These systems can combine up to the level-10 ceiling, but they are not interchangeable.
| Goal | Best lever | What it actually does |
|---|---|---|
| Replace a weak base slot | Catch or breed a specialist | Raises the starting level before any investment and does not consume a handbook or condensation copies. |
| Guarantee +1 to one job | Applied Handbook | Permanently raises the named suitability by +1. All 12 current types cost 300 Dog Coins from the Medal Merchant. |
| Keep upgrading a favourite | Condensation | Each rank-up raises one of that Pal's existing suitabilities; maximum rank raises all of them. Maximum rank now requires 48 Pals rather than 116. |
| Lift several same-job workers | One aura carrier | Grants +1 to every other Pal at that base for one job. The carrier is excluded, and duplicate copies of the aura do not stack. |
Current natural leaders and aura support
All 12 aura-supported jobs in the installed 1.0 data. Natural levels are the Pal records before condensation, handbooks or an aura. Each listed carrier grants +1 to every other base Pal for that job; there is no Oil Extraction carrier.

| Electricity | Level 8 | Orserk | Puffolt (Electricity Aura) |
| Handiwork | Level 8 | Solenne | Ribbuny (Handiwork Aura) |
| Gathering | Level 8 | Jetragon | Clovee (Gathering Aura) |
| Lumbering | Level 8 | Celesdir Noct | Eikthyrdeer Terra (Lumbering Aura) |

Condensation improves one job at a time, then all at max rank
Pocketpair's exact rule matters: each rank-up raises one of the Pal's Work Suitability levels, while reaching maximum rank raises all of them as before. An intermediate rank is therefore useful, but it is not a promise that Kindling, Mining, or whichever job you are targeting will be the one selected. Check the Pal's updated work panel after each rank rather than projecting a blanket +1 onto every listed job.
The lower maximum-rank requirement makes that uncertainty easier to work around. The official requirement fell from 116 to 48, so a fully condensed worker is much more practical for a whole base roster. Maximum rank is the dependable milestone when you need every one of a multi-role Pal's existing suitabilities improved.
Applied Handbooks are the precise upgrade
The current item data contains 12 Applied Handbooks, one permanent +1 item for every staffed job except Oil Extraction. Every one is currently sold by the Medal Merchant for 300 Dog Coins. Applied Ranching Handbook I is the new 1.0 addition; the release notes also say Applied Technique items were made easier to obtain overall.
Use a handbook when the target job is already known and worth keeping long term. It changes that individual Pal, so it follows the worker between bases. An aura instead belongs to the current base setup and disappears from the other workers when its carrier is removed.
Aura carriers trade one base slot for many +1s
The installed data has exactly one carrier for each of the 12 aura-supported jobs. The effect is always +1, remains +1 across Partner Skill ranks, applies to every other Pal stationed at the base, and excludes the carrier itself. Because duplicate copies do not stack, use one carrier only when enough other workers share that job to justify the occupied slot.
This is strongest in a focused production base. A Handiwork aura can lift several assembly workers at once; an Electricity aura can lift a generator team. In a mixed early base, replacing a productive worker with an aura-only support Pal can be a downgrade, so compare the number of workers receiving +1 against what the carrier can do on its own.
Three aura decisions to inspect first
These representative carriers cover a production line, Ranch output, and furnace work. Their Pal pages show the rest of their job spread before you spend a base slot.
Ranching and Lucky Pals feed the same upgrade loop
Ranching received both direct and indirect support. Applied Ranching Handbook I gives a permanent +1, Cinnamoth provides the non-stacking Farming aura, several Pals gained Ranch suitability, Ranch materials and output scaling were adjusted, and Vaelet now supplies seeds from the Ranch. Choose the product first, then compare Farming level; a higher Ranch level cannot make a Pal produce an item outside its species-specific pool.
Lucky Pals now provide Work Suitability enhancement items and large amounts of experience, and start at a higher rank when captured. That makes a Lucky encounter an investment shortcut, not a separate fifth suitability layer: its value comes from the rank and enhancement resources it gives you.
